Do you know how to use the areas of Engagement to support the learning of those with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties?
The first half of this session will recap the main principles from the statutory approach to assessment for those with PMLD and those not yet fully accessing subject specific learning or the content of the national curriculum. The second half of the session will involve sharing how to develop and use engagement motivators across a range of domains to develop practical ideas around how you might use the model to support bespoke provision development for all pupils with complex needs regardless of statutory assessment level. In this part of the session we will share the bespoke use of engagement motivators to design provision originally developed at Sunningdale School more than 6 years ago. This will include simple strategies for reflecting on different aspects of provision with greater depth so that potential for engagement and learning can be maximised.
