What if the behaviours we find most difficult aren’t the problem – but the clue?
This session invites educators to rethink how they understand and respond to behaviour, challenging the limits of traditional reward and sanction systems. Rather than asking “How do we stop this behaviour?”, we explore a more useful question: “What is this behaviour telling us?”
Through a mindset-led, integrative therapeutic approach, Andy Baker will unpack how stress, unmet needs, developmental differences, and past experiences shape behaviour in the classroom. The session will offer a practical framework to help staff move from reacting to behaviour towards understanding and influencing it more effectively.
Expect a blend of insight, reflection, and practical strategies that support prevention, de-escalation, and stronger relationships – helping schools create environments where both staff and pupils can thrive.
