A Person-Centred and Holistic Curriculum for Learners
with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties
Has been written specifically for learners of all ages (that is, 2 to 92) with PMLD, recognising that such learners may be the very hardest to reach and teach, and therefore require a highly specialised and individualised curriculum model. It is entirely process based, concerning itself with the process of communication, cognition, sensory awareness, self determination, physical well-being and creative exploration.

The aim of this document is to evaluate and to update the current curricular provision for learners with profound and multiple learning difficulties of any and all ages in order to provide a coherent and consistent approach to their education.
For those with a profound learning difficulty, learning is best done when the learner is placed at the centre of the Curriculum.
