Dr John Cornwall
Dr. John Cornwall FRSA: Former Director of the “Centre for Enabling Learning” at Canterbury Christ Church University, Research Psychologist, Education Consultant and Author. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
A teacher for 18 years and subsequently Principal of a Special School and Family Centre for children with physical and complex learning disabilities, he has long experience and well-founded and inclusive knowledge in special and mainstream education. For the past three years he was the appointed UK (England) expert to the European Union Agency for Development in Special Needs Education:
Teacher Education for Inclusion Project. A former specialist School Inspector for the UK Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted), his continuing work as an Education/Learning Consultant has given him wide experience in hundreds of schools and local education authorities. He has researched many aspects of special and mainstream education both nationally and internationally and has published over 50 books, chapters and journal articles in the last 10 years in the UK, France and in the USA. He has much international research experience in both Europe and the United States. His research has focused on profound, severe and complex learning disabilities, challenging and violent behaviour and ‘the human element’ of organisational effectiveness. He is a member of the British Psychological Society with a Doctorate in Psychology.
