School Vacancy
Headteacher, Northumberland.
Closing Date: 16th March 2018.

Northumberland County Council
Corbridge Road, Hexham, Northumberland, NE46 1UY.

Hexham Priory School is designated for pupils with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties. The school currently has 99 pupils on roll aged from 2 to 19 years. In addition to a learning difficulty, many pupils have a secondary disability, which may be an Autistic Spectrum Condition, a sensory impairment or a physical disability.
In 2012 the school was rated as outstanding by OFSTED. Based in the beautiful historic market town of Hexham, our school serves a rural catchment covering over one thousand square miles of West Northumberland.

Due to the retirement of the current long serving post holder, the Governing Body are seeking to appoint a Headteacher with the commitment and drive to lead our school as we continue to expand our pupil numbers, extend the building, and consider academy status.
Potential candidates are invited to contact the school if they would like to visit on either the afternoon of Monday March 12th 2018 or the morning of Tuesday March 13th 2018.
Hexham Priory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this post. We are also committed to equality and diversity.

Online CPD Sessions

“Love these courses, it is like having a university lecture/tutorial”

“I love listening to the evidence based information”

“All the information was presented simply and efficiently. It was interesting and the time passed very quickly. An excellent training session”

Rodney House School – Manchester

We feel the online training delivered by EQUALS have been WONDERFUL.  The relevance and depth of the sessions has been fantastic, Peter is a very knowledgeable man. Having training delivered online has enabled all our teachers to attend and have discussions after the event rather than one teacher attending and disseminating which can water down the content.
Thank you so much and keep them coming!

Peter Imray

“Lets focus on things that matter”.

“For those with a profound learning difficulty (PMLD), learning is best done when the learner is placed in the centre of the curriculum”.

Priory Woods School – Middlesbrough

“The Semi-formal Curriculum meets the needs of our special children and we feel more able to promote what the children need rather than being constrained by subject areas”.

“Freedom to be creative and concentrate on individual needs with a focus on independence”.
